Johann Sebastian Bach i George Friedrich Händel to dwaj najznakomitsi kompozytorzy epoki baroku, żyjący w tym samym czasie. Ich twórczość miała różne style i charaktery, nie przeszkodziło to jednak, aby podziwiali się nawzajem, choć podziw ten nierzadko niósł za sobą głęboką zazdrość. Warto zaznaczyć, że pomimo podziwu, jakim Bach darzył Händla i na odwrót – ich muzyka podążała własną drogą, różniąc się znacząco pod wieloma względami. Bach był znany z rozbudowanych fug i skomplikowanych struktur muzycznych, podczas gdy Händel tworzył przede wszystkim opery, oratoria i muzykę orkiestrową. Niemniej te dwie wielkie indywidualności pozostawiły niezatarte ślady w historii muzyki i pozostają inspiracją dla wielu kompozytorów i muzyków do dziś. Czy zatem „ Kolacja na cztery ręce” Paula Barza, realizowana przy współudziale trzech instytucji kultury i sztuki, tj. Teatru Miejskiego w Lesznie, Miejskiego Ośrodka Kultury w Głogowie oraz Teatru im. Cypriana Kamila Norwida w Jeleniej Górze, jest spektaklem li tylko o muzyce? Nie. Przede wszystkim jest to spektakl o ludziach, którzy zostali „ dotknięci” geniuszem muzycznym przynoszącym z jednej strony sławę i uznanie rzeszy wielbicieli, z drugiej rozterki i wewnętrzne konflikty. Podczas wspólnej kolacji w Lipsku w zaciszu hotelowego pokoju dochodzi do konfrontacji myśli twórczej obu kompozytorów, następuje swoistego rodzaju „wyłożenie kart na stół”, czyniących owo spotkanie grą – czyja muzyka jest lepsza i bardziej wartościowa. Ale tak naprawdę, to dowiadujemy się jakimi są ludźmi. Z jakich emocji złożone jest ich życie i dlaczego tworzeniu towarzyszy ból istnienia, rozgoryczenie, smutek, żal i poczucie niespełnienia. Realizując „Kolację na cztery ręce” wspólnie chcemy wejść w głąb natury ludzkiej, ukazując jej zalety, ale również ciemne strony charakteru głównych bohaterów sztuki. Spróbujmy prześledzić, jaką metamorfozę muszą przejść aktorzy, aby uwiarygodnić grane przez siebie postaci. W roli Bacha zobaczymy Roberta Manię, w postać Händla wcieli się Bartłomiej Adamczak, a towarzyszy im Marek Prałat jako Schmidt.

Johann Sebastian Bach and George Friedrich Händel, two the most famous composers of the Baroque age, who lived at the same time. Their works had different style and natures, yet this did not prevent them from admiring each other, although this admiration often carried with it deep jealousy. It needs to be said that despite the admiration Bach had for Handel and vice versa, their music followed its own path, differing significantly in many respects. Bach was known for his elaborate fugues and complex musical structures, while Handel primarily composed operas, oratorios, and orchestral music. Nevertheless, these two great individuals left incredible marks in history of music and continue to be an inspiration for many composers and musicians to this days. So, is Paul Barz’s „Dinner for Four Hands”, produced in collaboration with three cultural and artistic institutions – the Municipal Theatre in Leszno, the Municipal Cultural Center in Głogów, and the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre in Jelenia Góra – a performance solely about music? No. First of all, this is play about people, who were “touched” by musical genius, which, on one side, brought fame and recognition from a multitude of admires, and on the other, inner struggles and conflicts. During the shared dinner in Leipzig in the privacy of hotel room, a confrontation of the creative thoughts of both composers takes place, there begins some kind of “cards on the table” moment, turning this meeting into the game – whose music is better and more valuable. However, in reality we learn what kind of people they are. What emotions shape their lives, and why the act of creation is followed by the pain of Four Hands”, we wish to explore the depth of human nature, showing not only its strengths, but also darker sides of characters of the play’s protagonists. We will try to identify the metamorphosis the actors must go through to make the characters they portray believable. In the role of Bach we will see Robert Mania, while Bartłomiej Adamczak will take on the role of Handel, and they will be joined by Marek Prałat as Schmidt.

Johann Sebastian Bach und Georg Friedrich Haendel, zwei der beruehmtesten Komponisten des Barock, lebten zur gleichen Zeit. Ihre Werke hatten einen unterschiedlichen Stil und Charakter, doch das hinder sie nicht daran, sich gegenseitig zu bewundern, obwohl diese Bewunderung oft mit tiefer Eifersucht einherging. Es muss gesagt werden, dass trotz der Bewunderung, die Bach fuer Haendel empfand und umgekehrt, ihre Musik ihren eigenen Weg ging und sich in vielerlei Hinsicht erheblich unterschied. Bach war bekannt fuer seine kunstvollen Fugen und komplexen musikalischen Strukturen, waehrend Haendel hauptsaechlich Opern, Oratorien und Orchestermusik komponierte. Dennoch hinterliessen diese beiden grossen Persoenlichkeiten unglaubliche Spuren in der Musikgeschichte und sind bis heute eine Inspiration fuer viele Komponisten und Musiker. Ist Paul Barz’ “Dinner for four hands”, produziert in Zusammenarbeit mit drei kulturellen und kuenstlerischen Institutionen- dem Stadttheater in Leszno, dem Staedtischen Kulturzentrum in Głogów und dem Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre in Jelenia Góra – eine Auffuehrung, die sich ausschliesslich mit Musik beschaeftigt? Nein. Zunaechst einmal  ist dies ein Stueck ueber Menschen, die von von musikalischem Genie “beruehrt” wurden, was ihnen einerseits Ruhm und Anerkennung von einer Vielzahl von Bewunderern einbracht, andererseits aber auch innere Kaempfe und Konflikte. Waehrend des gemeinsamen Abendessen in Leipzig in der Privatsphaehre des Hotelzimmers kommt es zu einer Konfrontation der kreativen Gedanken beider Komponisten, es beginnt eine Art “Karten auf dem Tisch”-Moment, der dieses Treffen zu einem Spiel macht – wessen Musok ist besser und wertvoller. In Wirklichkeit erfahren wir jedoch, was fuer Menschen sie sind. Welche Emotionen ihr Leben praegen und warum auf dem Akt des Schaffens der Schmerz folgt. In “ Vier Haemde’ moechten wir die Tiefe der menschlichen Natur erforschen und nicht nur ihre Staerken, sonden auch die dunkleren Seiten der Charaktere der beiden Protagonisten des Stueckes zeigen. Wir werden versuchen, die Metamorphose zu identofizieren, die die Schauspieler durchlaufen muessen, um die von ihnen dargestellten Charaktere glaubwuerdig zu machen. In der Rolle von Bach werden wir Robert mania sehen, waehrend Bartłomiej Adamczak die Rolle von haendel uebernimmt, und Marek Prałat wird sie als Schmidt begleiten.
